Have you ever heard of chargeBIG? As an independent subsidiary of MAHLE, the former corporate startup has been developing and selling central charging solutions for applications with 18 to 100 or more charging points for day parkers or fleet operators since 2018. The charging infrastructure specializes in smart single-phase charging capacities between 2 and 7 kilowatts to charge many vehicles in parallel at one location. The integration of 22 kilowatt charging points is possible at any time.
Now chargeBIG is expanding its range with the number "6". This stands for a charging system for up to six electric vehicles, which can charge simultaneously at an existing house connection with 11 or 22 kilowatts.
The central charging distributor is connected to the grid via the household electricity meter - thanks to the IP-55 standard, it can also be located outdoors.
The advantage: due to the central design of the system, investment costs are lower, as the operator does not need six wallboxes with the necessary components such as charge controller, energy metering, fuses, etc. chargeBIG6 is therefore a simple and inexpensive charging management solution for apartment buildings and also your car workshop. With it, you can offer your customers an extra service.
chargeBIG6 is a plug & play solution with a central control unit-the MAHLE chargeBIG6 charging distributor. It consists of a maximum of six three-phase charging points, each with a charging capacity of 11 or 22 kilowatts, as well as a permanently mounted charging cable and Type 2 plug. The intelligent charging distributor can be used to charge twice as many e-vehicles as the solutions currently available on the market. The charging distributor includes all necessary electronic components such as charge controller, residual current circuit breaker and fuse. The power requirements possible for the system are 25kVA, 43kVA or 86kVA, depending on the configuration, which the load management system distributes to the charging points as required. Charging billing and connection to a charging infrastructure backend are not required. The charging points can be enabled via key switches if desired.
