Bigger isn’t always better. That was yesterday. MAHLE chargeBIG, the subsidiary specializing in smart charging solutions, is introducing the smallest wallbox on the market. It comes in two versions: the ECO model, with a charging capacity of up to 7.4 kilowatts (kW), and the PRO model, delivering up to 22 kW.

To shrink the wallboxes down to a miniature size, MAHLE has integrated the intelligence and electronic components into a central charging hub – the chargeCLUSTER. Depending on the configuration, the chargeCLUSTER can manage two (size S), six (size M), or up to 36 charging points (size L). This modular design makes the system highly flexible and cost-efficient. Thanks to the chargeCLUSTER, all chargeBIG smallBOX charging units feature dynamic load management and are compliant with legal calibration requirements for billing.

Flexible use

The dynamic load management system ensures optimal distribution of available power to all connected vehicles – without overloading the grid connection. Thanks to its built-in intelligence and modular flexibility – chargeCLUSTER systems can be interconnected as needed – MAHLE’s solution is especially appealing to customers in the commercial and public sectors. Charging sessions can be activated via the chargeBIG app or conveniently started through eRoaming using common charging apps. Alternatively, MAHLE chargeBIG offers its own terminal that allows vehicle charging with an RFID card, debit card, or credit card – no app required. This makes the system particularly well-suited for public parking environments.
