Here, we provide a brief overview of the future of mobility and what it means for your modern workshop operations. MAHLE aims to position itself as a system leader in electromobility. In this realm, system expertise is a crucial success factor, as coordinating individual components in electric drivetrains is considerably more intricate than in combustion engines.

Electrification is the future focus for MAHLE.

Battery-electric vehicles present almost three times the revenue potential for MAHLE compared to combustion engine vehicles.

The company is concentrating on electric drives and smart charging, aiming to improve range and performance, and promote fast-charging capabilities and comfort.

With our modular electric motor system, we can provide tailored solutions to our customers

Over the past two years, MAHLE has introduced two highly innovative electric motors: the MCT (Magnet-free Contactless Transmitter) which operates without rare earths, and the endurance champ SCT (Superior Continuous Torque) E-motor.

Now, the company is merging the strengths of these two concepts into one modular technology.

MAHLE possesses outstanding expertise in electrification and thermal management

Efficient thermal management is key to efficient e-mobility. Vehicle heating and cooling are critical technology areas in electrification and a core competency for MAHLE. This enables thermal system solutions for battery-electric vehicles, hybrids, and conventionally powered vehicles.

For electric cars, key acceptance factors for consumers hinge on thermal management, including battery life, range, performance, and fast-charging capabilities. This increases system complexity significantly. To manage this complexity while enhancing efficiency, MAHLE has developed a new thermal management module.

For example, it integrates heat exchangers, coolant pumps, capacitors, chillers, sensors, and valves into one unit. This reduces space, development effort, and costs.

The overall system becomes much more efficient: up to a 20% increase in range is achievable with the MAHLE module combined with a heat pump, compared to a standard electric heater architecture. Enhanced cooling performance also improves fast-charging capabilities.

We also envision a future for the internal combustion engine

MAHLE remains a reliable supplier for its combustion engine customers as long as there's global demand. The company utilizes its expertise in combustion engines to pave the way for sustainable fuels.

For instance, hydrogen engines, especially for heavy-duty vehicles and off-highway applications, offer a rapid means to decarbonize propulsion. MAHLE recently secured its first series order from DEUTZ for components intended for stationary engines, with more applications planned.

MAHLE is prepared for the future. Our openness to various technologies gives us the advantage in guiding workshops and dealerships towards the automotive future.
