This past weekend marked a historic event for the Four Motors Bioconcept-Car Team as they delivered a record-breaking performance at the 12 Hours of Nürburgring 2023. The event, part of the Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS), consisted of two individual six-hour races, showcasing not only an impressive performance but also a well-deserved podium finish for the musician Smudo and his international driving team.
Driving their Porsche 911 GT3 Cup with the #320, the Four Motors crew, led by team manager Tom von Löwis and Smudo, secured the 19th overall spot on Saturday and simultaneously won the AT Class (Alternative Fuels) race. This was undeniably a monumental achievement for the team, celebrating its 20th anniversary.
The success didn't stop there. The other two Bioconcept-Cars from Four Motors also joined the victory parade. The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 bearing the starting number #420 secured the second place in the AT Class, while the Cayman GT4 981 with the #633 came in third. In the overall standings, they ranked 36th and 46th, a commendable accomplishment in such a competitive field.
However, the Nürburgring race was not just a test of driving skills but also a contest against nature. The relentless heat, with temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius (86°F), tested both drivers and cars, resulting in only a limited number of vehicles completing the race on both Saturday and Sunday.
On Sunday, Four Motors continued its winning streak. The #320 secured the 24th spot overall and once again clinched the AT Class win, while the #633 achieved a respectable 33rd place. Regrettably, the #420 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport faced a tire issue towards the race's end and had to withdraw in the final lap.
For drivers like Henrik Bollerslev, who was behind the wheel of the #320 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, the heat was an added challenge. But ultimately, teamwork and vehicle performance were keys to success.
Four Motors' passion for sustainability is another standout feature of the team. Smudo, not just a skilled driver but also a prominent musician, emphasized the importance of sustainability, announcing that the team's efforts in this regard will intensify in the future. Marrying racing with eco-friendly messages will continue to be of utmost priority for the team.
With only two races left in this year's NLS season, the thrilling motorsport year is drawing to a close. Oliver Sprungmann, a new addition to the team, reflected positively on his inaugural season with Four Motors, highlighting the successes he's already achieved.
Team manager Tom von Löwis expressed pride in the team's 20th-anniversary milestone, emphasizing that more achievements and innovations concerning sustainability lie ahead. The next challenges are right around the corner, and Four Motors is poised to continue delivering peak performances while spreading the sustainability message on the racetrack. In just a few days, the 55th ADAC Barbarossapreis will take place, and Four Motors will again demonstrate that they're not just about fast laps but also play a pivotal role in nurturing young talents and promoting sustainability.
